Coming off of a very positive Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires debut at St. Petersburg, Fla., Nico Jamin is heading to Alabama to compete in this weekend's Indy Grand Prix of Alabama Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires event.

As they did for the St. Pete's event, the drivers of the Pro Mazda series will share the track with the open-wheel stars of the Verizon IndyCar Series this weekend. Jamin will drive the No. 2 Mazda / SYNOVA Automotive Eco Plastics Recycling / Hexagon USA / Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing Pro Mazda in rounds 3 and 4 of the 2016 Pro Mazda series.

Thanks to his record-breaking 2015 USF2000 Powered by Mazda Championship season with Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing, where the Frenchman collected 10 wins and clinched the 2015 champion's title, Jamin is now the 2016 Mazda scholarship driver in the Pro Mazda series. The driver from Normandy scored two fourth-place finishes in his first Pro Mazda event at St. Pete. He ranks second in the Rookie of the Year standings and fourth in the Driver Championship point standings -- only one point behind the third-place driver, Weiron Tan.

Jamin says that he is really excited to return to the 2.3-mile, 17-turn Barber Motorsports Park road course, where he won his first American open-wheel race last year.

"The guys at Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing have been very hard at work during the whole last month to raise our game and be back at the front at Barber," Jamin said. "I have been training harder than I ever did, and I am ready to be back in the car and fight for wins. It is one of my favorite tracks of the season, so I have high expectations for this weekend."

Not only was Jamin a winner last year in the Cooper Tires Winterfest event at Barber, but he also won round 6 during the regular 2015 USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda season at Barber. Jamin's goal this weekend is to score his first Pro Mazda series championship podium.

Jamin and his Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing team participated in the Mazda Road to Indy Spring Training at Barber last month, which provided excellent opportunities to try multiple set-up options that should help them this weekend in rounds 3 and 4.

"As a team I think we got off to a very good start at St Petersburg, everyone worked well together," Dominic Cape said. "We have a few things to work on both driving and on the cars set-up, we'll keep working as hard as we can and we are all very motivated for Barber".
